It’s a story that’s all too common in post Michael Brown America. A person wearing apparel supportive of President Donald Trump, his presidency, and his initiatives is ridiculed and assaulted by other Americans triggered by the red hat.
This time it happened in a Cheesecake Factory.
Eugenior Joseph, 22, was dining with his girlfriend’s family on Mother’s Day in Miami, Florida, when employees at the restaurant noticed his hat and began making comments about it.
“So then all the employees started standing there, saying things out loud, like, ‘I’m going to knock his head in so hard his hat’s going to come off,” a witness told the Daily Wire, adding that the employees called Joseph a “n****r” while speaking to each other.
One employee went so far as to begin making threatening gestures towards Joseph, clenching his fists to suggest that he wanted to physically fight him.
“He got behind me and another coworker came by and they were staring at each other and he fist bumped him and then he started looking at me, balling his fists, smacking his fists, trying to scare me,” Joseph recalled.
The behavior of the Cheesecake Factory employees continued until Joseph and his girlfriend departed the restaurant. The corporate headquarters did issue a standard sort of “everyone should be comfortable in our restaurant” statement, but as of this writing no personal contact apology has been made to Joseph and there are no reports that the employees engaged in the taunting and verbal assault have been disciplined or terminated from the company.
No guest should ever feel unwelcome in one of our restaurants and we are taking this matter very seriously. Upon learning of this incident, we immediately apologized to the guests in person. The individuals involved have been suspended pending the results of our investigation.

There really is no excuse for this. At this point in American history, we are so divided as a nation when it comes to politics, that this sort of behavior is becoming less and less shocking, but it is not at all acceptable. Attacking and assaulting other Americans for exercising free speech rights is simply not who we are.
In addition, yes, this is a very casual society, but, guys, um, yeah, indoors, you might want to do the polite thing and remove your hats. Nothing to do with politics, that’s just good manners.
