Good Guy With A Gun Stopped Shooter At A Back To School Event

This is why good guys have guns, and should be allowed to carry them any way they want anywhere they want.

In Titusville, Florida, a back to school event was taking place in a park when a fist fight broke out. Following the break up of that altercation, one of the participants went home and returned to the park with a weapon. He started firing it. Witnesses say about a dozen shots were heard, and then a good guy with a gun who just happened to be there took care of the gunman until police could arrive.

A bystander, who was lawfully licensed to carry a firearm, then shot the gunman.

“We are extremely grateful that nobody else was injured in this incident,” Deputy Chief Todd Hutchinson said in a statement. “This suspect opened fire at a crowded public park. This could have been so much worse.”

The gunman himself was given life-threatening injuries by the good guy. He was airlifted to a local facility for treatment. He was the lone casualty.

[Local individual Dwight] Harvey told the news outlet he was thankful the bystander was in the right place at the right time to quickly end what could have been an even worse situation.

“This was standing your ground, in a situation like this with kids involved; not what you saw in Clearwater — that was murder,” Harvey told Florida Today, referring to a controversial shooting last month over a handicapped parking space that’s sparked protests.

The good guy with the gun remained at the scene and is reported to be cooperating with police. According to a preliminary investigation, he acted within the law and most likely will not be charged with any crime.

This is why We the People have the Second Amendment. Good guys with guns who are willing to defend people they do not know from foes that endanger them. It’s something the left willfully refuses to accept is beneficial to everyone, including them.
