Americans past a certain age know all too well that the youngins, as it were, are woefully undereducated. The whole system is so watered down as to be broken. Time after time, this is being proven with a man on the street videos featuring college and university students from “elite” schools who cannot answer basic civics questions.
The latest of these offerings come to us from Campus Reform. Their media director wandered the campus of Columbia University asking random students about American rights. The question is what rights are assured in the First Amendment of the United States Constitution. The answers:
Elite? Seriously? This information is available openly on the internet. And not only that, free speech is about being free in what one has to say. If one is hurt by the words of others, it is advisable to grow a thicker skin.
The truth, though, is that this crisis of lack of educational results may well have been intentionally manufactured. In 2016, before the general election, huge tranches of emails attributed to Clinton crony John Podesta were released on Wikileaks. One of them, 3599, talks about the lack of civics in education.
“And as I’ve mentioned, we’ve all been quite content to demean government, drop civics and in general conspire to produce an unaware and compliant citizenry. The unawareness remains strong but compliance is obviously fading rapidly.”
Unawareness is an understatement. It’s more like outright ignorance coupled with the therapy culture. And yes, according to this, it was a conspiracy to keep the people stupid and compliant to whatever our overlords were doing to destroy America at the time.
A recent study claims that 36% of Americans can only name one right guaranteed in the first amendment, and 40% cannot name any. This is the law that assures we can say what we think, exercise religion, assemble peaceably, have a free press (if they choose to be so), and petition the government. We are the only country on the planet to have these rights. Really, the people need to know this.
