GOP Surprises Democrats Expressing Support For Pelosi As Speaker

In 1996, then Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich recognized that he was a target for Republican opposition. Knowing that, and knowing that he would be a lightning rod for messaging from the Democrats, Newt took the high road and resigned his seat, removing that piece of ammunition from the arsenal of attack.

It looks like Rep. Nancy Pelosi of San Francisco has no intention of doing anything that noble…or smart. She’s ready to take the Speaker’s gavel on January 3, 2019, when the new Congress is sworn in.

“I feel very confident in the support that I have in the House Democratic Caucus, and my focus is on winning this election because so much is at stake,” Pelosi told reporters in July. Just this month, she told The Washington Post: “Nobody is indispensable. But I do think that I am best qualified to take us into the future, protect the Affordable Care Act, to do our infrastructure bill and the rest. Stepping down this path, I know the ropes.”

Go ahead, Nancy. Make the Trump Administration and the Republicans’ day, because you may not realize it, but the “Affordable Care Act” is more unpopular than you, and all the goofball things you spout off tend to become conservative memes that will haunt the Democrat Party for decades to come.

The White House plans on using that to its advantage.

For Trump, though, losing the House — but getting Pelosi back as a target for 2020 — is a dream come true. And he knows it.

The president telephoned Pelosi on Tuesday night after Democrats were projected to win control of the House, and the two reportedly talked about her calls for bipartisanship in her victory speech. But Trump also warned Democrats about gumming up the works.

“If the Democrats think they are going to waste Taxpayer Money investigating us at the House level, then we will likewise be forced to consider investigating them for all of the leaks of Classified Information, and much else, at the Senate level. Two can play that game!” he wrote on Twitter.

Be careful what you wish for, Nancy. You just might get it.

The Democrats just handed the 2020 presidential election – and the House – to the Republicans and are too stupid to see it.

Imagine that.

  1. Pelosi is not the brightest light in the chandelier. Sometimes she is laughable, and having her as speaker is probably an advantage for Republicans as a more stable, and reasonable person would be harder to make a fool of. She does it for herself.
