There was a shooting at the Borderline Bar & Grill in Thousand Oaks California last night at around 11:20 a.m.
The police have confirmed that the shooter entered the bar armed with a Glock 21 .45 caliber handgun after shooting and killing the security guard outside. After entering the bar he is said to have killed a couple of other security guards as well as other’s employed by the bar then began killing patrons in the bar.
Geoff Dean the Ventura County Sheriff who retires at the end of the week has confirmed that there was one police officer killed who had 29 years on the job. The Officer killed is said to have been the first one to enter the bar and was immediately shot when he entered.
There was a total of 11 patrons of the bar killed and the one police officer bringing the total loss of life to 12. The Sheriff said there were a number of other people with minor injuries from things like jumping under tables to jumping through windows to escape the massacre taking place in the bar.
The shooter was a 28-year-old Marine named Ian David Long who lived just a couple of miles away from the bar. The police have no motive for the shooting at the moment.
The Marine was known by local law enforcement and police responded to a call just this past April and he was said to have been agitated and acting strange so they had their crisis response team respond and evaluate Ian Long. It was determined by the team that there was not enough justification to detain Mr. Long for further evaluation.
Authorities are unsure of Ian Long’s military background at the moment but there is some indication that he may have been suffering from Post Traumatic Stress.
Unfortunately, the liberal gun grabbers are screaming gun control before they even finish the investigation or identifying the dead. It’s pretty clear just from what we know about the shooter already that mental health access is more of an issue than gun control… California has some of the strictest gun control laws in the nation… Ian Long’s gun did not cause him to shoot these people… I suspect we will learn that he is another veteran lost in the system with warning signs or pleas for help that were never addressed. Very sad for all involved.
