Are the Democrats listening to the American people?
Multiple polls reveal that we the people have had our fill of the Russian witch-hunt.
Most people want to see special counsel Robert Mueller to get to the point of his investigation into Russian meddling in the 2016 election before the midterm elections in November.
According to a CNN Poll, Tuesday, 66 percent of the respondents want Mueller to finish the probe before voters head to the polls. Fifty-seven percent of Democrats and 72 percent of Republicans stated that they want Mueller to wrap it up before November.
The poll found that 34 percent of those asked said the investigation was not a relevant factor in the November elections, whereas 63 percent said it would affect their vote.
Forty-seven percent of poll respondents express their approval of the way Mueller is handling the investigation, a 6-point increase since a June poll.
Trump has continuously posted on Twitter about Mueller’s “witch hunt.” Trump’s lawyers have been interceding with Mueller’s team about a possible interview with the president, which is considered as a crucial step in wrapping up the investigation.
According to the poll, 70 percent of respondents believe the president should testify under oath in the Russia investigation, and 25 percent stated he should not. An overwhelming majority of Democrats, 92 percent, believe he should, while only 39 percent of Republicans think he should sit down with Mueller’s team.
The CNN poll was performed Aug. 9-12 among a sample of 1,002 adults. The margin of error is plus or minus 3.9 percentage points.
