On Monday, when President Donald Trump signed an executive order based on a law put in place under Barack Obama asking the Attorney General and the Director of National Intelligence to unredact pages of documents and hundreds of text messages at the request of Congressional committees in the name of full transparency, the collective gasp from the swamp could be heard out here on the fruited plain.
A whole lot of people want all that black ink covering up all the names who signed off on the application to a FISA court for a warrant to wiretap former Trump administration aide Carter Page. In fact, Democratic members of the gang of eight, the chairs and ranking members of the intelligence oversight committees in the House of Representatives and the Senate, wrote a letter to FBI Director Christopher Wray and Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein demanding that they refuse to do so, and that they let the four of them, Nancy Pelosi, Adam Schiff, Chuck Schumer, and Mark Warner, know what is passed on to the White House before it happens.
Thanks to the Washington Examiner’s Byron York for making this a headline.
Showdown? In letter, Pelosi/Schumer/Schiff/Warner order intel agencies to ignore presidential order on declassification until consulting with Congress. https://t.co/x7JDUJd4t0 pic.twitter.com/o64PC7EEFQ

Seriously. Read the letter here:Letter-to-Coats-Rosenstein-Wray
This news is circulating among the alternative media and may not see mainstream media attention, but one pundit made this observation about the audacity of lawmakers in the legislature crossing the line of separation of powers to give orders to employees of the executive branch who serve at the pleasure of the president.
The combination of arrogance, hubris and desperation within the above letter from the four Democrats on the intelligence oversight Gang of Eight, is palpable even in text format.
Legislative branch members: Nancy Pelosi, Chuck Schumer, Adam Schiff and Mark Warner write a letter today to Director of National Intelligence Dan Coats, Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, and FBI Director Christopher Wray, demanding the executive branch cabinet members withhold information from the White House….
Why would the Trump DOJ and FBI be giving Pelosi Inc. “assurances” of their intent to withhold intelligence from the White House (Office of the President).
Why would Rosenstein and Wray be giving “assurances”?….
This letter reeks of corruption, manipulative intent, and between-the-lines admissions of gross intelligence abuses. Additionally, the appearance of a visible alignment between corrupt executive branch officials (Wray, Rosenstein, possibly Coats) and corrupt intelligence oversight officials (Schiff, Warner, Pelosi, Schumer) is jaw-droppingly obvious.
As of this afternoon, over at Bloomberg, there is a report that Rosenstein is going to use the methods and asset protection excuse to keep from having to violate his assurances to the flagitious four. From Zero Hedge:
Despite President Trump’s Monday order for the “immediate declassification” of sensitive materials related to the Russia investigation, “without redaction,” the agencies involved are planning to do so anyway, according to Bloomberg, citing three people familiar with the matter. …
The agencies are likely to cite national security concerns over revealing classified “sources and methods” pertaining to the Russia investigation – which will put them in direct conflict with Trump’s order. Trump, as president, has the power to override the agencies and declassify material on his own.
Unbelievable. What is under all that black ink that the people hiding it do not want the world to know? We’re now more curious than ever.
And, seriously, Rosenstein and Wray better realize that “You’re fired” is one of Donald Trump’s signature phrases. He might just pull it out and say it to one or both of them.
