The Democrats simply cannot be disuaded from the notion that there is there there when it comes to President Donald Trump. He has to have done SOMETHING wrong. Anything, not that Special Prosecutor Robert Mueller or the Department of Justice is telling what that something might be.
That being the case, House Judiciary Chairman Jerrold Nadler is busy readying subpoenas to inspect every inch and orifice of the Trump administration whether it is warranted or not looking for the needle in the haystack, or a few unicorns, whichever they encounter first.
“Several weeks ago, I sent document requests to 81 individuals and entities as part of the House Judiciary Committee investigation into abuse of power, corruption and obstruction of justice by the President,” Nadler said in the statement. “Regrettably, not everyone has chosen to voluntarily cooperate with the Committee at this time. I am particularly concerned about reports that documents relevant to the Special Counsel investigation were sent outside the White House, waiving applicable privileges.
“To this end, I have asked the Committee to authorize me to issue subpoenas, if necessary, to compel the production of documents and testimony,” Nadler said.
Who is Nadler wanting to talk to? A whole list of people he’s convinced are hiding something.
The Judiciary Committee said it also plans to authorize subpoenas for certain documents from former White House Counsel Don McGahn, former White House strategist Steve Bannon, former communications director Hope Hicks, former Chief of Staff Reince Priebus and former White House aide Ann Donaldson….
If they didn’t know anything incriminating about President Trump when they talked to the Mueller investigation, it remains a mystery as to why they would suddenly spill beans to Democrats on a Congressional subcommittee clearly hellbent on another witch hunt.
Republicans on the Judiciary Committee are not amused with these tactics, but have little choice but to watch as the Democrats search for the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.
