Democrats Want Impeachment, Pelosi Says No, Food Fight Brewing

Say one thing for Nancy Pelosi, no matter what the case is with her being medicated one way or another, she is an astute politician. So, when she says impeachment is off the table, she knows that it simply is not in the cards. There is no national will, let alone evidence, to see it done.

That doesn’t matter to her more hardcore party members. The rabid, foaming at the mouth anti-Trump and socialist sorts want impeachment and the whole circus that accompanies it.

That being the case, Pelosi turned the tables in a way she thinks might shut the hyenas up.

“House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., told her Democratic colleagues Thursday that President Donald Trump ‘wants to be impeached’ so that he can be vindicated by the Senate,” NBC News reported Thursday. “Pelosi made the comments at a closed-door morning meeting, two Democratic aides told NBC News, who also said that Pelosi called Trump’s actions ‘villainous.'”

“Let me be very clear: the president’s behavior, as far as his obstruction of justice, the things that he is doing, it’s in plain sight, it cannot be denied — ignoring subpoenas, obstruction of justice,” Pelosi told reporters Thursday, NBC reports. But, as she reportedly did in the closed-door meeting, the Democratic leader then stressed that impeachment was a major risk.

“I do think that impeachment is a very divisive place to go in our country,” she said. “Get the facts to the American people in our investigation,” she said, addingn that “it may take us to a place that is unavoidable in terms of impeachment, but we’re not at that place.”

Thus, Nancy Pelosi tries to kill two birds with one stone. She sees that impeachment is not just an uphill swim but will fail. At the same time, she confirms her party’s assessment of the president.

Trying to have it both ways is politically expedient, but may not work in the end.
