True to their word to investigate the Donald Trump Administration down to where the paper clips are stored, House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerrold Nadler announced that they would be issuing subpoenas to all sorts of people to investigate all sorts of activity, real and imagined, in search of crimes whether they happened or not.
Committee Chairman Jerrold Nadler told ABC’s “This Week” the panel wanted documents from the Department of Justice, the president’s son Donald Trump Jr. and Trump Organization chief financial officer Allen Weisselberg, among others.
“We are going to initiate investigations into abuses of power, into corruption … and into obstruction of justice,” Nadler said. “It’s our job to protect the rule of law.”
“It’s very clear that the president obstructed justice,” Nadler said. He said it was too soon to consider whether impeachment should be pursued, however.
“Before you impeach somebody, you have to persuade the American public that it ought to happen,” he said.
Oh, so THAT’s what they are up to. Persuading the American people that impeachment needs to happen. And what high crime and/or misdemeanor is the cause for this Congressional action?
Apparently obstruction of justice:
As evidence of obstruction, Nadler cited Trump’s May 2017 firing of FBI Director James Comey, who was leading an investigation into Russia activities in the 2016 U.S. presidential election and possible collusion with Trump’s campaign.
That investigation was subsequently taken over by Special Counsel Robert Mueller, who is expected to deliver his findings to the U.S. attorney general within weeks.
To aid its inquiry into possible obstruction of justice, the committee is expected to focus its document requests on actions by Trump that could constitute efforts to remove perceived enemies and install more loyal replacements at the Justice Department, according to a person familiar with the matter.
As if every presidential administration since George Washington did not do that.
And since when is firing a cabinet official obstructing justice when the investigation is still ongoing?
Sorry, but the Democrats are talking out of both sides of their mouths while they are using an age-old trick to remove those who serve as a barrier to their goals from office. They are going to try to sue Trump and his people into oblivion. Over sixty people and organizations are in the crosshairs. Why? Because the House Democrats, who are essentially powerless even if they have the majority in that chamber, can.
Good luck with that. The man and a number of members of his cabinet have money to spare for the best defense that can be bought.
