House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is determined to drag out the impeachment farce as long as she possibly can. On Wednesday, the day after a number of Republican Senators said they would not vote for acquittal in favor of letting President Donald Trump defend himself against the charges laid at his feet, nimrod Nancy has named the Democrat handlers, um, managers who will be on hand to try the case in the Senate.
“I am proud to present the managers who will bring the case which we have great confidence in impeaching the president for his removal,” Pelosi, D-Calif., said Wednesday. “The emphasis is on litigators.”
The House managers include House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff, D-Calif., who will be the lead manager and who led much of the impeachment inquiry out of his committee and House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerrold Nadler, D-N.Y., whose panel drafted the articles of impeachment.
Pelosi also tapped House Democratic Caucus Chairman Hakeem Jeffries, D-N.Y.; Rep. Jason Crow, D-Colo.; Val Demings, D-Fla.; Sylvia Garcia, D-Texas; and Zoe Lofgren, D-Calif.
Many of the managers were chosen because of their backgrounds: Lofgren has been involved in three presidential impeachment proceedings: as a Judiciary Committee staffer during former President Richard Nixon’s and former President Bill Clinton’s impeachment, and now as a manager.
Pelosi’s “managers” don’t look all that much different from the committee chairmen who rigged the hearings of non-material witnesses to lay non-criminal charges in front of President Trump.
Obstruction of Congress? Abuse of power? Really? Where are those two crimes in the criminal code?
What is laughable about all of these efforts on the part of the Democrats is that the country – and that includes their constituents – really is not interested in impeachment. In fact, poll after poll indicates that the American people want it all to go away as it is doing the country no good.
That is not going to stop nimrod Nancy, though.
