When it comes to what is published as “news,” at least on an international scale, one never knows what is true and what is not if a mouthpiece just says it is. Without some sort of tape, video or audio, just about anyone can say just about anything, and by the end of the next news cycle, it’s gospel truth even if it didn’t happen.
Over the weekend, Iranian officials claimed that they had captured seventeen (17) CIA spies, and had even sentenced some of them to death. The claim was that these spies were Iranians sent to keep tabs on the country’s nuclear programs. Supposedly, the arrests happened over a twelve-month period of time ending in March 2019.
On Monday, President Donald Trump called that claim a lie.
‘The Report of Iran capturing CIA spies is totally false,’ Trump wrote in a tweet. ‘Zero truth. Just more lies and propaganda (like their shot down drone) put out by a Religious Regime that is Badly Failing and has no idea what to do.’
‘Their Economy is dead, and will get much worse. Iran is a total mess!’ Trump wrote….
The 17 suspects are all Iranians, some of them recruited by a ‘visa trap’ in which the CIA would target Iranian nationals as they applied to visit America, Iran claims.

President Trump’s claim was backed by Secretary of State Mike Pompeo.
‘It’s part of their nature to lie to the world,’ Pompeo said. ‘I would take with a significant grain of salt any Iranian assertion about actions they’ve taken.’
Iran has been a problem in the Middle East for decades. At this point, the west has once again imposed sanctions on the former Persia and is working to strangle their economy. At least the United States is. And after killing the Obama Era “Iran Deal,” the nation is hurting.
