Maybe money isn’t everything to people in Hollywood after all.
After opening a new series to killer ratings, something no television situation comedy had done in a long time, Roseanne Barr‘s new show is gone thanks to a tweet that has a whole lot of people including cast and crew screaming RACIST!
Roseanne’s sin was retweeting this:

In one of the tweets, she wrote, “Muslim brotherhood & planet of the apes had a baby=vj.”
Barr was responding to a comment about Valerie Jarrett, a top former aide to President Obama. She replied to CNN reporter Andrew Kaczynski and said it was “a joke.”
The tweet storm is now gone. Roseanne deleted it herself, but not before the high brass at ABC decided they couldn’t risk slights to Barack Obama’s right hand, arm, and maybe even a leg and a few ribs, Valerie Jarrett. In this case, race probably took a back seat to that political reality. Frankly, ABC allowing Barr and her decidedly pro-Trump stance on the air was a bit of a shock.
Now, after some spur of the moment Tweeting…
“Roseanne’s Twitter statement is abhorrent, repugnant and inconsistent with our values, and we have decided to cancel her show,” ABC Entertainment president Channing Dungey said in a statement.
Disney CEO Bob Iger added on Twitter that “There was only one thing to do here, and that was the right thing.”
The right thing might well be acknowledging that the mainstream media, and that includes entertainment programming, have been restricting the information and stories going over the airwaves to include only THEIR take on how life should be, not necessarily reflecting the way life in America really is. Roseanne’s new show was much closer to the people than any fantasy ABC executives might have about a progressive utopia.
In addition, there are plenty of Americans on the fruited plain wary of Valerie Jarrett, as well as aware that Chelsea Clinton married George Soros’s nephew, the other bugaboo on Roseanne’s Twitter feed this week. This cancellation certainly was not done on the people’s account, that’s for sure.
