Smollett Wanted For Making It All Up

Blaming Donald Trump supporters for all manner of hate crimes and racial agitation seems to be a thing now. Anyone wearing Make America Great Again gear is susceptible to being blamed for all manner of thought crimes, no matter if they happened or not, and frequently violence that may or may not have happened.

That whole scenario surfaced again in Chicago when Jussie Smollett, an actor being written off of the television program “Empire,” claimed he was accosted by two men yelling “This is MAGA Country.”

The men were arrested, but not before telling law enforcement officials that they were paid as part of the incident.

The two Nigerian brothers arrested in connection with the assault on “Empire” actor Jussie Smollett are no longer suspects in the attack. They’re now cooperating with police.

A source close to the investigation confirms to CBS News the brothers told detectives Smollett paid them to participate in the alleged attack on January 29 and that they purchased the rope — which was found around Smollett’s neck — at a nearby hardware store. The source said detectives have evidence to corroborate the sale, something the men’s attorney alluded to Friday night.

“New evidence that was brought to their attention, obviously I had it, my clients had it,” said Gloria Schmidt, the brothers’ attorney.

The Chicago Police Department released a statement Saturday night saying information from the brothers had “shifted the trajectory of the investigation.”

“We can confirm that the information received from the individuals questioned by police earlier in the Empire case has in fact shifted the trajectory of the investigation. We’ve reached out to the Empire cast member’s attorney to request a follow-up interview.”

The attorneys are telling law enforcement and the media that the actor will cooperate with the investigation. However, in Illinois, filing a false claim to the police calls for three years in jail.

This one is not over, but it is more proof that all one has to do with the media to make headlines is claim that Donald Trump supporters attacked and they will run with the story, vetted or not.

  1. This is a shame. Anyone regardless of race should be punished to the fullest extent of the law for trying to incite race violence. This guy should spend time in prison for what he did and tried to get started.
