Trump Campaign Manager To Plea Guilty In Federal Court

So far in the Robert Mueller special counsel investigation into God only knows what at this point since no evidence of Trump-Russian collusion has been found in relation to the 2016 presidential election, the only truly big fish to be caught in the net of investigation is Paul Manafort. Manafort is the convention expert who was brought in to herd the cats known as floor delegates in order to secure the nomination of Donald Trump at the Republican Convention.

When his job doing that was successful, Trump switched to another campaign manager.

As it turned out, as much testosterone as Manafort injected into the whole affair, he and his partner Rick Gates were known entities in the political world. They made fortunes acting as lobbyists for and in foreign governments. They also, according to Gates, laundered money. And those are the actions that Mueller is using as the crimes to prosecute both of them.

Neither man has been found guilty of doing any of this in relation to the 2016 presidential campaign.

Earlier this year, while Manafort was maintaining his innocence, Gates rolled and plead guilty to tax and bank fraud in exchange for leniency. Now, Manafort, facing a lengthy federal prison sentence, has decided to do the same.

Former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort will plead guilty in federal court Friday as part of a plea agreement with Special Counsel Robert Mueller, Fox News has learned.

The details of the plea agreement, and whether Manafort would cooperate with prosecutors, were not immediately known. A plea agreement hearing is set for Friday morning.

Manafort, in a trial set to begin Sept. 24 , is facing seven counts of foreign lobbying violations and witness tampering in federal court in Washington.

Frankly, if this is all Mueller can come up with, crimes that just about every lobbyist can be accused of if one starts to sniff around, then the question of why the Mueller team was impaneled in the first place needs to be answered. There doesn’t seem to be any Trump-Russian collusion to be had. Wasn’t that the whole purpose of the exercise?
