President Donald Trump and his team are not going to play along with Rep. Jerry Nadler and the other Democrats who seem to think it is their God-given right to order around the Executive Branch since they just happen to have (temporary) control of the House of Representatives.
Over the weekend, the White House team “declined the invitation” to testify before the House Judiciary Committee in the continuing saga of House Democrats trying to find any old crime to pin on the president.
The news comes as Nadler asked President Donald Trump on Friday if he would be sending his lawyers to the impeachment hearing scheduled for Dec. 4. Nadler also asked Republicans on the House Judiciary Committee what witnesses they plan to ask permission to subpoena for the hearings in letters sent to Trump, the Associated Press reported.
“I write to ask if — pursuant to H. Res. 660 and the relating Judiciary Committee Impeachment Inquiry procedures — you and your counsel plan to attend the hearing or make a request to question the witness panel,” Nadler wrote in his letter to Trump on Tuesday, setting the first hearing for the committee in the Democrats’ impeachment inquiry against the president.
To be perfectly honest, at this juncture the only people really taking this impeachment circus seriously are the House Democrats and the people who follow them. The vast majority of the American people have tuned out, even news junkies on the conservative side. The Adam Schiff show revealed that the Trump Administration shut out the career diplomats from decision making on Russia and Ukraine, and those people were smarting because of it. We also found out that Democrats will change the ground rules of battle to serve their own purposes.
And…we also found out that there are immigrants with awfully high-security clearances in the government.
Otherwise, it’s time to deck the halls and bake some cookies.
